Racing Pigeon Research Center¶
The PigeonGene Research Center (research.senopigeon.com) is the research backbone of the PigeonGene digital ecosystem, collecting real and traceable racing pigeon scientific literature and methodology.
Our principles¶
- Never fabricated: every paper's DOI and PubMed record can be traced and verified
- Scientifically rigorous: association, correlation, causation and hypothesis are kept strictly apart
- Honest wording: gene associations are described as "suggests / may be associated", never exaggerated
Content navigation¶
Literature (ScholarlyArticle)¶
- Literature index - the full list, with traceable DOI/PubMed links
- Covered so far: the pigeon reference genome, breed divergence, racing-performance associations (LDHA/DRD4/CRY1/GSR/LRP8), homing mechanisms and muscle transcriptomics
Research directions¶
- Research directions overview - index of eight research directions
- Evidence grading - the definition and use of grades A-D on this site
- How to read the literature - how to read a scientific paper
Methodology¶
- Methodology - quantitative genetics, marker genotyping and association-study methods
- Glossary - common genetics terms explained
How to use this site¶
- Fanciers: start from the plain-language summary in the literature index; every paper has one;
- Breeders: focus on evidence grading and how to read the literature, and understand that association is not causation;
- Researchers: use the DOI/PubMed links on each page to trace the original text.
FAQ¶
Are all the papers on this site real?
Yes. Every paper listed here has been checked against its PMID/DOI and can be traced back to PubMed or the publisher page. Preprints are explicitly marked as not peer reviewed.
What do the A/B/C/D evidence grades mean?
A = supported consistently by multiple independent studies; B = pigeon-specific, peer reviewed and statistically significant; C = single or preliminary pigeon study; D = biologically plausible but with limited pigeon evidence. Compare a paper's conclusion against its grade.
How should an ordinary fancier use this site?
Start from the plain-language summary in the literature index - each paper has one. Then keep the core principle in mind: association is not causation, and treat conclusions as breeding reference only.
